City of Palatka Directories

City directories are a sometimes overlooked resource for genealogists, but are also useful tools for other researchers, in particular, planners, developers, historians, architects and others. This particular group of directories is presented here because they dovetail nicely with the online version of the SanbornŽ Fire Insurance Maps for Palatka, Putnam County, Florida provided by the PALMM Project of the State University System of Florida.

 

These directories were scanned into the PDF format utilizing the best quality photocopy of the originals available.  Some visual quality issues are noted with the 1886 directory.  A better image will be provided as soon as one becomes available.

 

Thanks go to the Putnam County Historical Society for permission to copy the years 1886-1912, and the St. Johns River Community College for the year 1915.

 

Newly available and presented for your research is the 1919 Putnam County Directory, containing not only Palatka, but listings for the other municipalities and communities in Putnam County.  Also available is the 1928 Time-Herald Yearbook and Citizens' Manual of Palatka and Putnam County Florida.  Thanks go to the EDGEFIELD-on-the-St. Johns Archives for permission to copy and post them.
